President Barack Obama is trying to implement a new strategy in regards to the Islamic militant group in Iraq. Obama wants to contain and not destroy the group that controls most the northern region of Iraq.
What this new strategy doesn’t answer is the how much of the U.S. armed forces will be drawn into this new strategy. According to the president, he doesn’t plan on sending American ground troops in–they were withdrawn in 2011.
There is another question on whether the recent air strikes will have a lasting effect in terms of controlling the area.
