KEY LARGO, Fla. (AP) — A 75-year-old woman died while snorkeling in the Florida Keys.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Peggie Lanizzani of Umatilla was snorkeling with her sister on Tuesday afternoon off of Key Largo. The sister told authorities they were floating along when she realized something was wrong.
The sister says she began pulling her sister toward the boat — the Sundiver III — and yelling for help. Someone from the boat helped them bring them on board and CPR was started.
The boat headed to shore where paramedics were waiting.
She was taken to Mariner’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
