MANILA – “Paolo” has intensified into a tropical storm but has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA said Friday.
The weather bureau earlier said it expected the storm to stay inside PAR over the weekend, but the storm accelerated and was seen moving west northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour (kph).
As of 4 p.m., PAGASA said the storm was spotted 425 kilometers northwest of Iba, Zambales.
However, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are still expected over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon because of the storm’s effect on the southwest monsoon (habagat).
PAGASA is also monitoring a new low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao.
