The couple accused of kidnapping their kids and sailing to Cuba has accepted a plea deal Tuesday to two counts of kidnapping.
According to deputies, Joshua and Sharyn Hakken tied up their children’s grandparents prior to taking the boys from their Tampa residence. The family was eventually caught and brought back to Tampa.
Sharyn accepted a plea deal Tuesday, meaning she will get at most 10 years in prison. She has an October 9 scheduled hearing.
Joshua followed suit after seeing his wife accept the plea deal.
The deal means there will be no federal prosecution, there will be no prosecution in Louisiana for other charges, and Joshua and Sharyn will not be in contact.
