According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a stolen car occupied by six teenagers was speeding and hit an under cover truck at Central Avenue and 54th Street at 12:23 a.m. Monday.
The ages of the teens and their injuries are not available at this time, but two were trauma alerts. They were taken to several St. Petersburg area hospitals.
A Tampa police officer in the passenger seat of the truck and the St. Petersburg Police officer driving were injured and taken to St. Petersburg General and St. Anthony’s Hospital. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time. They were working together as part of the Auto Theft Task Force but were not involved in a pursuit.
Central Ave at 54th St. will remain closed for several hours for the investigation.
