Study: In-Car Devices May Be More Distracting

distracting

The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety commissioned a survey by the University of Utah, and they found indeed what one suspects many people have already figured out… that when your hands-free, voice activated in-car software can’t quite seem to get right the name of that restaurant you are shouting out for directions, that indeed becomes even more distracting than say, composing a text message while driving.

So as much as this new technology has now become standard in most automobiles, if it has a bad ear and low accuracy, that’s a big problem. The AAA says that these current shortcomings in these products intended as safety features, are in fact adding to the problem.
