PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida teen is facing charges after falsely reporting a gun at school.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that the fake story prompted a lockdown Thursday at Durant High School in Plant City while 40 Hillsborough County deputies and security guards searched the building and students were made to walk through metal detectors.
The sheriff’s office says the boy, whose name wasn’t released, eventually admitted that he lied about seeing a gun. He was charged with disruption of a school function, false statement and obstruction.
