Half a dozen Tampa Bay bridges are being called “structurally deficient” in a new Federal Highway Administration report.
The designation may sound ominous but officials say it does not mean the spans are unsafe.
It simply means they must be repaired or replaced within six years.
The 6 bridges in need of attention are:
Pinellas County
State Road 679 (Pinellas Bayway) over Boca Ciega Bay
Nine Street S over Booker Creek
10th and 11th Avenues S over Booker Creek
Polk County
County Line Road Bridge over the Peace River
Kraft Road Bridge over the Kraft Canal
Hillsborough County
Big Bend Road over the Big Bend Drain
