Sheriff: Up To 100 Homes Lost in Washington Fire

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A sheriff estimates that up to 100 homes have been lost in a large wildfire burning in north-central Washington.

Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said Friday morning that between 80 and 100 homes have burned.

Rogers said no injuries have been reported.

Rogers said his team counted 30 homes and trailers destroyed in Pateros, another 40 in a community just outside the town at Alta Lake and about 25 homes destroyed elsewhere.

The wind-whipped blaze has grown to about 260 square miles.
