A tractor trailer hauling sand overturned following a traffic crash in Polk County Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP says a large volume of sand was dumped onto the roadway along Interstate 4 near the 44 milepost, between State Roads 557 and 559.
Traffic was diverted at Exit 48 while crews worked to remove the obstruction.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 4 have been reopened; the westbound exit ramp to SR-559 remains closed (Exit 44 – Polk City).
