Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed a bill into law that is aimed at speeding up the testing of rape kits.
The law comes on word that 13 thousand rape kits sit untested at the state crime lab from around the state because of inadequate funding.
The new law says rape kits must be submitted by law enforcement within 30 days of being done and the state crime lab must get results within 120 days after that.
The state budget signed by Scott last week includes about $11 million in extra funding for the state crime lab.
