Emergency crews are on scene at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg due to a plane that crash landed.
Vinoy Park is near the Albert Whitted Airport, which is where the plane was headed from Tallahassee, according to St. Petersburg Police.
Preliminary information is that the plane was occupied by 4 people (3 men and 1 16-year-old woman) two of which are being transported to the hospital as a trauma alert. St. Petersburg police say all of the people on board are from the United Kingdom.
According to witnesses the plane was heading north to south when it came down in the park in an apparently landing attempt and struck a tree. The plane came to rest upright in the southern section of the park.
The pilot of the plane says the engine failed as he began his approach the airport and he was forced to attempt a landing in the park.
