MIAMI (AP) _ Detectives have questioned the roommate of a 73-year-old man who was beaten to death at a South Florida nursing home.
El Nuevo Herald (http://hrld.us/YN7eYM ) reports employees at South Dade Nursing and Rehabilitation Center called police Wednesday after finding bed-ridden Robert Verser dead.
Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta says Verser’s body showed signs of injury that weren’t consistent with a fall.
At that point, they spoke to Verser’s roommate and found he had injuries on his hands.
Police say 41-year-old Michael Poole told them he had punched his roommate.
He was taken into custody and was being interrogated Wednesday night.
The newspaper reports Poole was convicted of a misdemeanor assault charge in 2008 and misdemeanor battery and assault charges in 2006.
