Weekend Things To Do In Orlando

The holidays may be over, but there are still plenty of things to do in Orlando for the whole family starting with Central Florida’s many theme parks.

The International Festival of the Arts opens at Epcot this weekend. The festival combines visual, culinary and performing arts as added attractions. It’ll run Fridays through Mondays through Feb. 20, which is a time period the theme park usually has lighter crowds. There will be live art, meet and greets with Broadway talent from Disney musicals and special kiosks of artfully arranged food. This weekend there will be concerts from Ashley Brown, who played Mary Poppins on Broadway and Jost Strickland, who played Tarzon in Disney’s production on Broadway and is an American Idol alum. Concerts will run at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. Friday through Monday. The festival is included with admission. epcot.com.

Another theme park is amping up this weekend with new things to do. Legoland’s new Ninja World opened Thursday and is an immersive land that kids can sharpen their ninja skills in. The attraction will include the Lego Ninjago ride, Zane’s Temple Build, Kai’s Spinners, Cole’s Rock Climb and Jay’s Lightning Drill. It’s included with admission. legoland.com/florida.

Otronicon takes place this weekend from Friday to Monday. The premiere technology event is something you don’t want to miss. Learn how we will live, learn, work and play in the years to come through video games, simulations and other technologies, which are mostly made in Orlando. There will be longer-than-life video game experiences, state-of-the-art medical and military simulators, workshops taught by industry pros and so much more. www.otronicon.org.
