The federal trial of a Pinellas Park doctor accused of running a pill mill that was responsible for the deaths of three “patients” has come to a screeching halt after three weeks of testimony.
The judge declared a mistrial after prosecutors grilled Doctor Edward Feldman about his 2004 conviction for his part in an MRI kickback scheme.
The judge was concerned that the jury would put that conviction together with charges facing Feldman now and conclude that he must be guilty because he uses his practice to commit crimes regularly.
There’ no word on whether Feldman will be tried again.
