OPA-LOCKA, Fla. (AP) — A city official says two Miami-area police officers shot and killed a man who broke the windshield of a patrol car and refused to obey orders.
Opa-locka city spokesman David Chiverton tells The Miami Herald the shooting happened early Wednesday.
According to Chiverton, the officers initially used a Taser as they tried to control the man before shooting him. The man’s name hasn’t been released.
Chiverton says one officer was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury. Miami-Dade Police are investigating.
It’s the seventh police-involved shooting in the Miami area since Friday. Five of the seven shooting victims have survived.
