The United State Postal Service said Wednesday that it has proposed increasing the price of first-class mail to 49 cents from 46 cents, beginning in January, to help raise revenues for the cash-strapped service.
The USPS said the new prices would take effect on Jan. 26, 2014. Highlights include:
Letters (1 oz.) — 3-cent increase to 49 cents
Letters additional ounces — 1-cent increase to 21 cents
Postcards — 1-cent increase to 34 cents
