Legoland To Reopen Today
After being evacuated due to a bomb threat, Legoland is set to reopen today. Yesterday the theme park was closed all day.
Around 6 p.m. Thursday evening Winter Haven Police Department gave the all clear. Guests staying at the hotel were allowed back onto the property and the theme park announced they would resume normal operations October 14th.
The Winter Haven Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Tampa Police Bomb Squad and the State Firemarshal’s Office conducted a search of Legoland and found no explosive devices on the property.
WHPD reported that making a false report of an explosive device is absolutely no joke. Law enforcement will continue to investigate the origin of the threat and charge the person(s) responsible.
Legoland Florida Resort will be open Friday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Legoland Water Park will be open this weekend from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There are two emails being given out for guests. Anyone with any inquiries regarding Legoland is to be directed to David Brady at david.brady@legoland.com. Guests requesting ticket refunds or hotel changes are asked to email LLF.Experience@LEGOLAND.com.
No Word On Whether Legoland Will Reopen Today
WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- Legoland theme park and hotel in Winter Haven has been evacuated due to a bomb threat.
According to Winter Haven police, the threat was made towards the property and they are evacuating for the safety and security of guests and employees visiting the park. This is the first known evacuation of the park since it’s opening in 2011.
Legoland released this statement:
Earlier today a bomb threat was discovered on our property. We have evacuated the theme park and hotel for the safety and security of our guests and employees – which remains our #1 priority. We are working closely with Winter Haven PD to assess the validity of the threat.
This is the second time the park has closed for the month of October. Last week the theme park closed, along with others around central Florida, due to Hurricane Matthew devastating the east coast of Florida. The park reopened the next day following Matthew heading on a more northern trajectory.
Guests are being turned away from the theme park right now. Those asking for a refund are being told to email LLF.experience@legoland.com for inquiries.
