RIVERVIEW, Fla. (AP) — The event director of a Florida fund-raising carnival was struck and killed as he directed traffic for the event.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that 44-year-old Christopher James Scigliano stepped into a northbound lane of traffic Saturday night when he was struck by a pickup truck. Authorities say the impact threw him into the southbound lane, where he was struck by a sports-utility vehicle.
