3 DEAD, 8 INJURED AFTER VEHICLE HITS BEAR
Three people died and eight were injured in a crash that happened after a motorist hit a bear along a two-lane road in the Florida Everglades. Authorities say a Cadillac Escalade hit the bear Sunday evening and people in a second vehicle had stopped to help when a Mercedes plowed into them. The bear also died.
IRS SEEKS TAX DOCS FROM FLORIDA TRIBE CHAIRMAN
A Miami federal judge has set a Dec. 15 hearing for the Miccosukee Indian tribe chairman to explain why he hasn’t turned over tax documents to the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS has been attempting for months to obtain the records from Colley Billie. The hearing is to determine whether Billie should be held in contempt of court if the records are not turned over as previously ordered.
200 MOTHERS, NFL TO PARTICIPATE IN POP WARNER CLINIC
Pop Warner is teaming with the NFL and others to give 200 mothers an opportunity to get some on-the-field training. Pop Warner, the NFL, USA Football, former NFL players, and medical and nutrition experts will be at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Monday for an interactive, hands-on tackling demonstration and panel discussion about nutrition and player safety.
FLORIDA DEPUTY SHOOTS, INJURES SUSPECTED CAR THIEF
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating after an Orange County deputy fired shots at a suspected car thief. The shooting happened early Monday after deputies responded to a call about a stolen vehicle that had been spotted. They followed the car to an apartment complex. The sheriff’s office reports that deputies approached the car and made multiple commands to the driver, who refused to comply.
MAN FALLS TO DEATH FROM SHOPPING CENTER BALCONY
Authorities say a man fell to his death at the Ocean Walk Shoppes complex in Daytona Beach. The victim didn’t have identification when police and rescue crews found him Sunday morning. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports police were called to the area Sunday about a hit-and-run crash. When they arrived they found the man believed to be in his 20’s on the sidewalk near the shopping complex. He was bleeding and unresponsive.
