COCOA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities closed a stretch of Interstate 95 in Florida for several hours because of a nearby brush fire.
Brevard County Fire Rescue tweeted that the 6-mile (9.66 kilometers) stretch of I-95 was shut down because of the fire Tuesday morning before being reopened.
By mid-morning Tuesday, the fire had spread to about 2,000 (809.39 hectares) acres.
Drivers were rerouted onto street roads to avoid the smoke and falling embers.
