Accused Russian Spy To Plead Guilty

FILE - In this file photo taken on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, Maria Butina walks with Alexander Torshin then a member of the Russian upper house of parliament in Moscow, Russia. Experts say President Vladimir Putin isn’t necessarily dictating every Russian influence campaign abroad. Some accused of meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections appear to be ambitious individuals taking the initiative based on signals from the presidential entourage. Gun activist Maria Butina is one example. Butina is jailed in Washington on charges that she tried to infiltrate U.S. political organizations as a covert Russian agent. On today’s show, David discussed Russian spy Maria Butina.  Ms. Butina was arrested in July and charged with conspiracy and acting as an unregistered Russian agent in the United States.  For instance, she spent years building relationships with leaders of the Republican Party and National Rifle Association.

David also delved into the ongoing investigation of Khashoggi and the latest developments with Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.
