Trump is to lay out a major military rebuilding proposal at an 11 a.m. (local time) address in Philadelphia. A senior aide said he would outline a plan for new ships, planes, submarines, combat troops and missile defense systems.

It would be paid for by lifting congressionally mandated spending caps and launching a new round of budget reforms to save money. The Trump campaign did not immediately provide an estimate of how much the buildup might cost.

A new a new NBC/Survey Monkey poll is very good news for Trump and not for Hillary Clinton. Among all voters, 59 percent said they would not be confident in Trump’s ability as commander in chief. Fifty-three percent are not confident in Clinton’s ability to lead the military either.

Trump also leads when voters are asked who would be best for veterans issues. Among all voters, he leads her in this category 40 percent to 39 percent. With military voters, he beats Clinton 53 percent to 28 percent.

This will be a very important night for Trump he will have to have answers to tough questions and not deal with generalities. His goal tonight is look like a Commander – In – Chief to sway some voters his way who might think he can’t play on the big stage.
