HCC President Arrested On DUI Charges Over The Weekend
It was a rough weekend for the president of Hillsborough Community College who was arrested Saturday night for driving under the influence.
According to an arrest report, 65-year-old Kenneth Howard Atwater was pulled over by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the intersection of North Dale Mabry Highway and West Broad Street just before 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
Police say Atwater refused to take a BAC test. A BAC test measures the level of alcohol in a person’s bloodstream and in Florida, if you refuse to take a BAC test then you are automatically arrested on a DUI charge.
Due to his refusal to take the BAC test, Atwater was arrested for DUI and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
He posted a $500 bond and was released Sunday morning.
Atwater has been the president and CEO of Hillsborough Community College since July 2010. There is no word of what actions the school will take at this time.
