CNN Report Suggests Russia Has Compromising Info On Trump
For the past few months, there have been allegations of Russian interference in the presidential election. There have also been a lot of allegations that President-Elect Donald Trump not only benefited from the Russian hacking but that he has ties to Russia itself.
Throughout the campaign, Trump’s people had these allegations dogging them including seeing Paul Manafort leave the fold due to being investigating for his connections. According to intelligence chiefs, there is evidence that the Russians did hack the DNC and tried to influence the election.
Now, it seems that these documents have finally made their way to the American public as Buzzfeed has posted the documents on their website. According to Buzzfeed, Senator John McCain gave the documents to FBI director James Comey last month. Buzzfeed News decided to publish the documents—even though they haven’t been verified by an independent source.
“BuzzFeed News is publishing the full document so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of the US government,” it posted on its website.
Buzzfeed News wasn’t the first to report this dossier.
CNN, which Donald Trump has railed against since the start of his campaign, was the first to report on the existence of the dossier. However, they have refrained from publishing it due to questions of its authenticity. CNN reported that the FBI is still investigating the claims of the dossier, which was compiled by a former MI6 agent who runs his own intelligence gathering company. The news organization also reported that both President Barack Obama and Trump were given a two-page summary of the reports in a secret meeting on Russian interference.
“The allegations came, in part, from memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative, whose past work US intelligence officials consider credible,” write CNN’s Evan Perez, Jim Sciutto, Jake Tapper, and Carl Bernstein, the same one who broke the Watergate scandal. “Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.”
The compromising and financial information is a bit troubling but it would seem to make sense as Trump has had a bit of a soft spot for Vladimir Putin and Russia. Trump has openly admired Putin and also called him “smart” after he decided to delay when Obama brought sanctions against Russia.
“Great move on delay (by V. Putin),” Trump tweeted. “I always knew he was very smart!”
According to the documents, which again have not been verified yet, Trump has been supported by Russia for 5 years. The documents also say that FSB has compromised Trump through his activities in Moscow. Some of these activities, according to the report, were arranged by FSB and included perverted sexual acts.
“Trump’s unorthodox behavior in Russia over the years had provided the authorities there with enough embarrassing material on the now Republican presidential candidate to be able to blackmail him if they so wished,” the report said.
Again, the FBI has not verified these documents yet but they did think it was credible enough to present to Trump during the secret briefing. The Trump campaign hasn’t commented on the documents as of yet either. The FBI has hasn’t commented as of yet.
“I have a sense the outgoing administration and intelligence community is setting down the pieces so this must be investigated seriously and run down,” a high level administration official told CNN. “I think [the] concern was to be sure that whatever information was out there is put into the system so it is evaluated as it should be and acted upon as necessary.”
