Maroon 5 Receives Harsh Reviews
Popular band Maroon 5 recently released a controversial new music video called Animals. The video stars frontman Adam Levine and his wife Behati Prinsloo. The group received some backlash from a group called RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest, National Network). Yahoo! Music reported a quote from RAINN which stated, “Maroon 5’s video for ‘Animals’ is a dangerous depiction of a stalker’s fantasy — and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance.” They later added, “The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry. Survivors everywhere can get help 24/7 through the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org.”
RAINN is not the only one to make a complaint about the video, many fans also used Twitter to reach out and express their views regarding the video.
yo the maroon 5 "animals" video is a pretty disgusting example of the attempt to aestheticize violence against women in the name of art
