Global Citizen Festival Raises Awareness
MSNBC and NBC are airing live coverage of the Global Citizen Festival which is a campaign to end poverty by the year 2030. The concert is held at Central Park, with headline acts such as No Doubt, Jay-Z, Carrie Underwood, fun., The Roots, and Tiësto.
In addition to the goal of wanting to end poverty, the Global Citizen campaign is also designed to raise awareness for other basic needs that people need such as vaccines. According to their website, Global Citizen says,”We know that people living in extreme poverty are working hard themselves, and that we need to learn and take action to change the rules that trap them in broken systems.”
During the concert, the hashtag #GlobalCitizenFestival broke out in a very positive reaction from the fans and supporters of the campaign.
